During an interview at spring training, he expressed his thoughts on this matter, feeling that it was still unbelievable to him. In October of last year, after being eliminated by the Dodgers, Dombrowski made a comment in a podcast stating that although Harper is still an All-Star-level player, he has not been playing at "elite" level as before. "I think we're just going to have to wait and see if he returns to elite or continues to stay on an excellent level... Can he go up to the next level? I don't know."
In response to this comment during spring training, Harper stated: 「Dave’s words still feel unbelievable to me.」 He admitted that his performance last year did not meet expectations in terms of statistics. In seven seasons for the Phillies, he has amassed 179 home runs and 530 RBIs, achieving a standardised attack index of 145, which is better than his first seven years in Washington Nationals.
